A personality disorder is any condition which prevents an individual from properly relating to or engaging with his or her social environment. In plain terms, to suffer from a personality disorder is to be forever at odds with the world around you…which helps to explain why so many victims of the disease turn to drug and alcohol abuse as a means of self-medication.
