There is nothing easy about an intervention, let there be no mistake about that much. Entering a drug treatment center means admitting that you have a problem you can’t solve on your own…and drug addicts aren’t exactly masters of honest self-assessment. If the addict you care about is going to get better, it’s going to be because you convince him, via an intervention, that he needs help. That’s the only way for healing to go forward. With so much at stake, you can’t afford not to act.

The good news is that professional interventions can facilitate the intervention process. You’re not alone here. Or at least you don’t have to me. Remember, interventionists can only help if you seek them out. For your own sake, for the sake of the addict you care about, don’t wait any longer to do the right thing.

Drug treatment really does save lives. The only catch is that addicts have to seek it out. Interventions can spur the healing process by showing drug abusers the truth about themselves and their problems. They aren’t easy, but they’re worth it. It’s well past time you finally learned that for yourself.
